Which Side of a Computer Fan Is Intake

Spend enough time around PC builders and PC building forums, and you'll learn pretty speedily that the direction of a case or CPU cooler fan matters. When a fan's positioned for uptake, the design is to pull in cool air. Merely when a fan is set as an wash up winnow, the theme is to eject warm strain aside from the pillowcase or cooler. Search the pointer

Fortunately, you don't need the arrow to tell you the charge of airflow. Instead, simply take the fan blades.

If the fan blades look rotund—that is, they're semicircular away from you—that's the consumption side. (For the more technical out in that respect: The broken-backed side of the fan blades is the intake side.)

If the fan blades search same the inside of a dish or bowl—that is, they're curving toward you—that's the exhaust pull. (Put differently, the umbilicate side is where melody exhausts.) Oftentimes, the exhaust side also has the crosshatch supports for the fan's fles, with a circular thorn in the center that lists brand and pose data.
If come-at-able, memorizing the fan blade shapes is the best method to determine buff direction—you can tell apar immediately which way the fan is blowing.
Why this matters
As affected on above, the direction of a devotee matters for airflow. Knowing the way it points volition determine the best places to mount information technology, especially for a character. It also helps control that you actually set up the correct flow of air configuration for your purposes.
